Jane Nodine Jewelry

About
Picture
Welcome to my website. I am an artist and designer living in South Carolina where I produce handcrafted art to wear. My interest is grounded in sophisticated design that is well made and affordable to collect. I use a variety of materials that include  metals, plastics, laminates, natural and synthetic substances. My designs call attention to a person's sense of style and I guarantee customers will receive compliments. Trained in painting, drawing and metalsmithing, my background led to commercial jewelry design in the 1980's when I produced jewelry and accessories under the trade name of Jane Nodine Hardwear. As an avid traveller and former director of Study Abroad Italy at University of South Carolina Upstate, I merge international influences with down-home Southern charm. While materials and components may repeat in my jewelry, the attention to handcrafted details yield unique one-of-a-kind pieces that will render years of wearing pleasure. Sign up for announcements.

Inspiration
Growing up in the South instilled a love of nature that inspires my studio practice in jewelry, painting and printmaking. Having a strong interest in materials, I enjoy using non-traditional and unexpected materials to create pieces that make a statement and give a unique voice to the wearer. I celebrate textures, patterns and colors that create unusual surfaces that show the passage of time and a record of aging. This photo is one of the walking trails where I spend time and gain inspiration.

Design Philosophy
As an artist and designer I believe in strong design combined with solid craftsmanship. My design interests lie in creating statement jewelry that gives wearing pleasure to those who choose to step away from the crowd.

Community Connections
Having a career working with non-profit organizations in the arts, I am pleased to partner with 501C3 groups for fund-raising events by donating a portion of the proceeds to the sponsor. Recent Community Connections: Cornucopia–Greenville Council of Garden Clubs, Greenville Technical College–Riverworks Gallery, Art Education Scholarships–USC Upstate.

Jewelry Components
Jane Nodine Jewelry uses brass, bronze, copper, nickel  and sterling silver in designs combined with various materials such as acrylic, laminate, leather and wood. Metal components are clear coated to protect from tarnishing and skin irritation and earring wires and posts are surgical steel and hypoallergenic.

Care for Your Unique Designs
Jane's designs are crafted to give many years of wearing pleasure. Do not bathe or swim with your jewelry and always apply hair spray and cologne before wearing your designs. When storing jewelry, separately bag items in clear zipper bags to avoid scratching. DO NOT use alcohol or related products on plastics and acrylic jewelry. When necessary use a soft damp cloth to remove fingerprints or grime.
